FTC CAN-SPAM Comments Interesting Reading

FTC CAN-SPAM Comments Interesting Reading

At http://www.ftc.gov/os/comments/canspam/ you can find the index to the comments provided to the FTC by concerned citizens and entities regarding the proposed implementation of CAN-SPAM, including #2250, which is mine. I found it interesting that there were 6259 comments posted regarding this legislation, when much legislation only garners a few comments.

Our government provides numerous new avenues for communication Online. I think it's admirable that so many in the Web community chose to use the opportunity provided to us to make our concerns known about the implementation challenges posed by the proposed version of the Act.

Blogger Upgrade Adds Functionality

Google's acquisition of Blogger has resulted in the newest significant upgrade to the service in some time. With the new functionality, the posting interface has been simplified, and the ability to post by e-mail has been added.

Part of the enhancements enable bloggers to easily preview their posts before sending them. Blogger has also included new professionally designed templates to make it easy for users to customize the appearance of their blogs without needing to know HTML.

Most compelling, though, are the addition of the ability for readers to add comments to blog posts, and the addition of direct URLs to each post. Not only does this mean easier linking to specific content, it also has the potential to help blog pages achieve higher rankings on search engines.

Good stuff -- Check it out!
