Caught on Tape?

It's interesting that with the focus on the Bush tapes, the spin is all about the pot.  However, the really interesting story I haven't heard mentioned yet is that the tape clearly provides an example of Bush's willingness to evade or spin the answer to a question rather than answer it honestly.  No matter what end this supposedly justifies, the means are absolutely deplorable.

This article in this morning's Online edition of the San Francisco Chronicle covers the apparent suicide of gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson with a unique perspective, including comments from Thompson's former editors and his friends. Thompson's unique voice became a new kind of journalism, one that was willing to break the rules because he knew what they were. RIP

If you or someone who uses your computer uses MSN Instant Messenger, you may be at risk for a new and particularly harmful "worm" virus. TechWeb just reported today that:
"The newest variant of the Bropia worm -- tagged as Bropia.f, Bropia.g, Bropia.e, or Bropia.j by various anti-virus firms in an unusual display of naming chaos -- spreads through MSN Messenger. Users who receive the file and open it see a mildly-funny .jpg of a roasted chicken posed to resemble a naked sunbather, complete with tan lines. "
This worm is more than annoying, it opens a back door for another virus to steal your keystroke data, including passwords. The article includes a link to Symantec's Web site (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.bropia.removal.tool.html) where you can scan for the worm, and find software to remove it, if necessary.

Just wanted to pass along the info. Remember to keep your virus definitions updated, and to back up your files regularly. Better safe than sorry.
